Read persuasion before choosing a route
A normal clash begins near an even chance, then the target territory compares its persuasion toward the attacker with its loyalty toward the defender. Friendly political ground improves the attacker's chance; strong loyalty to the holder makes the defence harder to break.
This makes route planning important. A shorter path through hostile territory can cost more armies than a slightly longer campaign through countries that already favour your faction.
- Use the country border colour and country details to read political leaning.
- Compare loyalty before attacking two targets with similar army counts.
- Treat a highly loyal border country as a defensive asset, not merely another draft point.
Complete continents for income and protection
Owning every territory in a continent grants extra draft equal to one army for every four territories in that region. The map highlights the completed continent in its owner's colour so one overlooked small territory is easier to spot.
A completed continent also protects its owner from attacks launched outside that continent. The attacker's calculated win chance is reduced by 20 percent, after loyalty and persuasion have already shaped the underlying odds.
- Finish small, defensible regions when the extra draft is worth the border commitment.
- Station armies at the limited cross-continent approaches instead of spreading them evenly everywhere.
- Break an enemy continent before its repeated draft bonus creates an irreversible lead.
Protect damaged loyalty
When the Spies accord is active, infiltration can cut the current holder's loyalty. A damaged territory rebuilds that loyalty after it has been held with at least ten armies for five of that player's turns.
Loyalty can also move when a commander is eliminated, depending on difficulty and active table rules. Read the active Accords before planning a campaign around a defeated faction's political support.
- Keep recovery forces in strategically important countries rather than every damaged country.
- Watch for visible enemy spies and plan for the loyalty loss before the next border battle.
- Recheck the political map after a player is eliminated.
